A Plumber's Eye
Why get a plumber to do it?
Anyone can run a bead of silicone. The difference with a plumber is knowing whether that failed grout line is the problem - or the symptom. A leaking shower can come from the seal, the tap spindles behind the wall, or the drain, and sealing over the wrong one just hides it while the damage continues.
We check the plumbing side while we're there: taps, shower head, visible seals and drainage. If the water is coming from somewhere a tube of silicone won't fix, you'll know before we start - not after the paint bubbles in the room next door.
Caught early, re-grouting and re-caulking is one of the cheapest forms of insurance a bathroom can get. Left alone, the same water ends up in your wall frame and subfloor - and that's a renovation, not a reseal.

Common questions
How long before I can use the shower again?
Grout and silicone both need time to cure - typically around 24 hours for silicone before the area gets wet again. We'll give you exact guidance for the products used on your job.
What's the difference between grout and caulk, and why do both fail?
Grout is rigid and fills the joints between tiles; silicone caulk is flexible and seals the junctions that move - corners, screens, around the bath. Buildings move, grout cracks, silicone perishes. Both are consumables, not forever materials.
Can you match my existing grout colour?
Yes - grout and silicone both come in extensive colour ranges and we match as closely as the original allows. Fresh grout will always look brighter than ten-year-old grout at first, then settle in.
Is mouldy grout a health issue or just cosmetic?
Both. Surface mould can be cleaned, but mould rooted into grout keeps coming back and can aggravate allergies - and it usually signals moisture sitting where it shouldn't. Replacing the grout removes the colony, not just the stain.
Can you fix a leaking shower without re-tiling?
Very often, yes. If the tiles and waterproofing behind them are sound, re-grouting and re-caulking restores the seal at a fraction of renovation cost. If we find deeper damage, you'll see the evidence and get options before anything proceeds.
How long does the job take?
Most single bathrooms are stripped, treated and resealed within a day, plus curing time. Bigger or badly deteriorated areas can take longer - you'll get a clear timeframe up front.
